Fedora Project

So I downloaded the DVD iso last night and tried to install on my FC2.6 image for my laptop. No go. Trying again with a new DVD burned on my laptop rather than the one I burned on my desktop. We'll see how that goes . . . .

Linux, here I come

I've had it with M$. I'm downloading Fedora 8 and I'm going to install it on my laptop to see if I can live with it instead of XP. I used FC4 a while back and it was fun, but I couldn't do all my work without Windows but now I can use a Notes Linux client I've got no reason to stay on Redmond's sucky platform. I'll install tonight and most likely be posting from it tomorrow!

Virtual (and actual) commute

Today is fun. I've been online with people in Atlanta and New York, I'm currently in a demo with folks in Florida and DC and I still haven't brushed my teeth. Once I clean up I'm going to get on the road and actually speak to someone face to face in LA. The good part of home office work is that I don't have to spend my morning in a car getting to a desk in an office just for the sake of being seen. I can start my day a lot earlier (today it was 5:30 am) and can take time throughout the day to step away from work and still be close enough to the desk that I can respond to communication.
The down side of this job is that when I travel it can be for longer periods of time (18 days with 36 hours at home, anyone?) - the payoff is when I'm in my "office" I can sit with my dogs at my feet and look like a slob!

Chocks Away, Ginger!

Time for a new venture. Since I've seen so many of my friends dedicate some time to a web presence and blog about their work and interests in technology I figured it's about time I gave it a shot. I've got a personal blog for my family to keep a handle on what I'm up to but I want to get involved in the more interesting areas of technology that keep me going (and in work!)
I've worked in IT for more than 23 years and have specialized in messaging and collaboration systems for 15. My focus is around Lotus Notes/Domino. I'll most likely post about stuff to do with Lotus products and my other tech interest, cellphones. I have a good friend in the industry who keeps my appetite fed with new phones every now and again and I'm happy to evaluate them even though they run Windoze! I'll do my best to post at least once a day and to keep things current and exciting.
